DAY 1: CUSCO - KM 84 - HUAYLLABAMBA.

We will pick you up from your hotel between 4.00 and 4.30 am in our private transport to head for the community of Piskacuchu at 2720 meters above sea level, located at kilometer 82 of the Cusco-Machu Picchu railway, known as the Departure of the Inca Trail. We will begin our walk, crossing the bridge over the Urubamba River and walking along its left bank along the Sacred Valley. Following the path along a flat terrain, we will arrive to Miskay, located at 2800 meters above sea level, and then ascend to the highest part of a viewpoint from where we will be able to appreciate the impressive Inca city of Llactapata (2650m). We will continue the trek through the Kusichaca valley climbing gradually for about five hours until we reach the community of Wayllabamba (3000m), site of our first camp. Along the way, we enjoy spectacular views of the Vilcanota mountain range on the opposite side of the Urubamba River, where the impressive Veronica peak reigns at 5832 meters above sea level. Not to mention the diversity of flora and fauna that can be found along the valley.

DAY 2: WAYLLABAMBA - PACAYMAYO.

Today we will get up at 6:00 am and after breakfast we will begin the most difficult part of the trek, which consists of a steep and steep ascent that extends for 9 km. Along this rise, the landscape changes from sierra to puna (a dry and high zone with little vegetation and oxygen). On the way to the first pass of the mountain, Abra Warmihuañusca (Paso de la Mujer Muerta - 4215m / 13828ft), we can see llamas and domesticated alpacas grazing in ichu, one of the few plants that grow at high altitude. We will also cross an area called the cloud forest, known for being the habitat of many types of birds including hummingbirds and sparrows, and mammals such as the Andean bear, which is also known as spectacled bear (Tremarctus Ornatus). As a recommendation, your backpack should be well stocked with candy, chocolates and coca leaves to counteract any discomfort and keep your sugar level high. Immediately after the pass, we descend to the valley of Pacaymayo (3600m), where we will camp after approximately 7h of trekking.

DAY 3: PACAYMAYO - WIÑAYHUAYNA.

This day is the longest but also the most impressive and beautiful day, due to the number of archaeological sites and the lush Andean flora and fauna that we will appreciate during our passage through the cloud forest. From Pacaymayo we will ascend to the second step, the Abra Runkurakay (3970m / 13022ft). Halfway, we stop to visit the archaeological complex with the same name. This site, located at 3800m / 12464ft, consists of a small oval structure believed to have served as a watchtower. After descending to Yanacocha (Laguna Negra) we will cross the cloud forest to arrive to Sayacmarca (3624m), which is a beautiful complex formed by a semicircular construction, enclosures at different levels, narrow streets, liturgical fountains, small yards and irrigation canals. We continue our walk, climbing a path of easy access until we reach the third pass named Phuyupatamarca (3700m / 12136ft). Along this climb, we can appreciate the magnitude of the ancient craft of the Incas, walking on separate paths of the mountain and seeing rocks that fill gullies in perfect order, we will advance through paths of the Andean geography. We will pass through an Inca tunnel to reach the top of the pass and descend to the complex of the same name. This is one of the most complete and best-preserved archaeological complex along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and is located at the highest point of a mountain. Curiously, Phuyupatamarca means "city above the clouds". From above, you can see a sophisticated sacred complex composed of water sources with solid foundations, and breathtaking views of the Urubamba River valley. We will continue our trek through the long descending stone steps that will take us to Wiñaywayna (2650m), an impressive Inca complex formed by an agricultural center with numerous terraces, a religious sector and an urban sector, near which our camp is located. After visiting the impressive archaeological site, we will enjoy our farewell dinner in our last camp.

DAY 4: WIÑAYHUAYNA - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO.

Today we will get up at 4 am, in the morning to head to the Intipunku, or Puerta Del Sol (Sun's Gate). This climb will take an hour of walking along a trail of flat stones at the edges of cliffs in the high jungle. From this fabulous place, we can see the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu. From Intipunku we will descend to Machu Picchu, and 40 minutes later, we will enter the citadel from the highest point through the "House of the Guardians". Then we will descend to the checkpoint where we will enroll and leave our backpacks. Immediately we will begin a complete guided tour of the Inca citadel, which will take approximately two hours. Then you will have free time to walk and fill up the energy of this sanctuary. In the afternoon, we will meet in the town of Aguas Calientes where, if you wish, you can relax visiting its hot springs. From here, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo where we will be waiting to bring you back to the city of Cusco.

100% recomendado
